It is a volatile industry with providers' experiencing sustained declines in revenues and negative profitability that began in 2007 Q4. This shrinking business environment will continue to expose the deficiencies of the old value chain by revealing more of the interdependencies between network players and a greater extent of non-transparency in the processes. The depth of exposure to additional risks and expenses to clients is impressive.

This industry transformation is likely to continue as the poor economic conditions in the country deteriorate the relocation industry; pushing it further into a downward spiral. As real estate markets continue to decline the number of household goods shipments also drop, negatively affecting the moving and storage industry; forcing them to seek new lines of business. Furthermore, the industry continues to experience a rise in mergers, bankruptcies, and downsizing, reducing the supply of reliable moving options for both relocation providers and the corporate clients they serve.
